Why did you start your business?
I went to a neighbours party, and fell in love with the
savory flavours. I loved the healthy & delicious products
offered by Epicure and wanted to purchase them for my family at the consultant
discount!! Quickly, my friends started to say.."I'll have a party for you" & "how
can I order from you" ...and the rest is history!!
How has this business changed your life?
It really has!! I look at every opportunity to share a healthy product, meet new
people, truly cherish my new "spice" friendships, as something I would have
never had before Epicure!! I have met thousands of incredible customers,
hostesses & consultants...that I would have NEVER known! All because of Herb
& Spice Blends!! I am more thankful, blessed in many ways, and the
satisfaction of paying for my yearly family vacations, is something I take pride in!
Year One, a Caribbean Cruise! Year Two Maui, Hawaii...and now Year Three...
off to Portugal for two weeks!! We sure didn't do this before Epicure!
Tell us about yourself
I work full-time as an Executive Assistant @ a Post-Secondary Education
Institute. I have two teenagers, a very support hubby of 18 years, and a cat
"Bamboo" that I spoil rotten. I live in a small rural farming community, and work
in a larger centre - what a lovely balance I have! My motto is "take one day at a
time - embrace the day, as tomorrow is a new adventure"
What advice would you give others who are thinking about starting a
business as an Independent Consultant?
Research the Marketing possibilities for your product/business - this is key!! Do
your homework first. THEN, once you are satisfied... Go for it... you have
NOTHING to lose..and TONS to gain!! Believe in yourself!
How did you feel when you did your first party?
Nervous, very nervous. I had never done direct sales before, so I treading in
"new water." I wanted to make sure I said everything right!! BUT after 3
minutes, I spoke from my personal kitchen experimentation w/the Epicure
Selections products, and everything was up hill from there!! How did it go?
Once I was done speaking and thanked everyone for their patience in being my
first party...they said "we would have never known"... a feeling of
accomplishment & pride came over me!!
Did you ever feel like giving up the business?
Of course I have. Maybe, after a Party that may have not gone as hoped. But, I
chose early on in my business, to take that as a lesson, not a worry!
What stopped you?
The reality that I can't always control certain aspects of the Party outcome, but I
can take something, a networking opportunity, a discussion with a new
customer, something...and turn it into a useful possibility!
